Pacific Sanctuary: A place for reflection, serenity, and peace

As a hospital chaplain, Brenda Wills has seen how a severe illness or medical crisis can affect patients and their families. A patient’s healing is enhanced by the supportive presence of the people who love them. Families and friends benefit from space where serenity and strength can be renewed.

In response to this need, the foundation is supporting the creation of the Pacific Sanctuary at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital. The sanctuary will be a place for anyone who may need a moment to pray, breathe a word of thanks, meditate or reflect on life’s big questions.

Plans include a comfortable seating area that will replicate the peace of nature and include a variety of religious texts and tools for prayer. Pacific Sanctuary will emerge from existing space near the hospital’s front entrance. With an estimated budget of $30,000, the project will include the creation of a new door, a window remodel, wall coverings, flooring and the purchase of initial furnishings.

Samaritan Pacific Health Services has committed $10,000 to the project and the foundation has designated $2,000 from its general fund. In addition, hospital employees are purchasing a beautiful art piece that will be displayed in front of the large window. You can be a part of this special project by donating to the foundation.

Your gift can be made even more precious by making it in memory of a loved one. Those who donate to the Pacific Sanctuary will help create a special space for everyone: families, friends, patients and visitors.
