Samaritan Albany General Hospital Auxiliary awards $32,000 in scholarships
Jul 7,2009
Each year the Samaritan Albany General Hospital (SAGH) Auxiliary awards scholarships to local high school graduating students, college students and Albany-based employees of Samaritan Health Services. Proceeds from the hospital Auxiliary gift shop and specified donations fund the scholarships to assist in education for recipients who are beginning, continuing or earning a degree in the human medical field.
Scholarship recipients (names follow) were selected after a review of applications by a team of Auxiliary members led by the 2009 Scholarship Committee Chair and Auxiliary President, Holly Hood.
Adult recipients include Samaritan Health Services employees Jessica Abrams, Marilyn Barclay, Shelly Boweter, Heidi Hanson and Elva VanDevender. Student recipients include Jenna Cunningham, Mandi Garcia, Kimberly Fosdick, Whitney Hawk, Ashley Howell, Chitra Patel, Kendra Patton, Amber Reeser, Vanessa Tedisch, Jacob Wester, Halie Bethards, Sydney Knight, Brooke Lunsman, Joshua Mellander and Sara Merrill.
Scholarship awards are paid directly to the university or college to help with tuition; program-required books and program-required supplies. Donations to the Auxiliary scholarship program are welcome, any time of the year.
