In her own words… Lawanna Ellen Swan

I was born in Childress, Texas, on July 14, 1924, to Tillman and Lula Davis. I had a younger sister and two younger brothers. My parents were very involved with us, and our family life was wonderful.

We moved to Yuma, Ariz., when I was in fifth grade. We lived in a house on the mesa, several miles from town. I graduated from Yuma High.
