John Hickey, MD, has joined Samaritan Family Medicine, Brownsville, as the clinic’s new primary care provider.
He is accepting new patients, and appointments may be scheduled by calling the clinic at 541-451-6940. Clinic hours are weekdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Hickey has been offering walk-in care at the clinic since the beginning of 2013. He is also the medical director of Samaritan’s team of urgent care providers that rotate between clinics throughout Samaritan’s service area.
He has grown to enjoy the Brownsville community so much that he has decided to offer primary care by appointment as well as walk-in care for minor injuries and illnesses.
“This is a beautiful community,” Hickey said. “The people in Brownsville have a great deal of well-deserved pride in their community. There’s a lot of charm and warmth here.”
Hickey received a medical degree from the University of Washington in 1980 and completed a residency at Ventura County Medical Center in 1983.
He came to Samaritan in 1997, after practicing family medicine for 14 years in Ventura and then Eugene. He joined the urgent care clinic in Albany and then worked at the urgent care clinic in Corvallis, finally becoming the medical director for Samaritan’s urgent care clinics in Linn and Benton counties – with locations in Corvallis, Albany, North Albany, Lebanon and Brownsville.
In his free time, during the winter months, Hickey’s favorite activity is snowboarding. The rest of the year, he enjoys running with his Labrador and, occasionally, mountain climbing.
Diana Barron, MD, will continue to see her patients two days a week at the clinic by appointment.
