Samaritan Pacific Women’s Health Group
in Newport is pleased to welcome Certified Nurse-Midwife Brenda Woods.
Woods earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Texas Woman’s University, a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Texas at El Paso and a certificate in nurse-midwifery from the Parkland School of Nurse-Midwifery. She will provide obstetric care to low-risk patients of the clinic, as well as contraception, family planning counseling and health screenings to teen and adult women."
“I specialize in midwifery care,” Woods said. “As a hospital-based midwife, I have the luxury of being able to offer women not only natural childbirth support techniques, but pain medications if they’re needed. I see my role as a support person, helping to guide women and couples through the labor and birth process, allowing them to make choices as to what they desire for their experience.
“I fell in love with Newport, the awesome OB/GYN physicians who I will be working with and Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital, where I feel my services will be appreciated and needed,” Woods said.
In her free time, Woods enjoys reading, shopping, taking walks, gardening and exploring wineries, brew pubs and new restaurants. “I’m very excited to be living at the coast,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to learning about the ocean, crabbing, fishing, kayaking, hiking and boating.”
Woods is accepting new patients. For more information or to make an appointment, call the clinic at 541-265-3955.
