Cooking well, eating well seminar slated for Feb. 20

Jan 30,2013

Samaritan Health Services is pleased to offer a new seminar series in 2013, called Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies.

This free series will feature physicians and other health care providers discussing pertinent health topics, from cancer prevention to sleep disorders to prescription management.

Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies seminars will take place at all five Samaritan hospitals – monthly at the hospitals in Corvallis, Albany and Lebanon. Healthy snacks will be offered at each seminar.

This month’s seminar will focus on eating well and cooking well – a healthy look at tasty foods you can cook to help prevent cancer and chronic diseases.

Learn how to create simple dishes that blend taste and health in this free food demonstration and nutrition class.

Proven cancer-fighting foods such as cauliflower, broccoli and garlic will be made into a delicious roasted curry medley, infused with anti-inflammatory spices such a turmeric and ginger.

Get the basics of how nutrition can be a great defense against disease, enjoy a live cooking demonstration, and then enjoy the samples!

Presented by registered dieticians Barbara George and Kendra Madsen of Samaritan Health Services.

Wednesday, Feb. 20, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Location: Samaritan Albany General Hospital, third floor conference room

Cost: free
