Orthopedic surgeon James Ryan, MD
, will lead a free educational seminar on joint replacement on Oct. 17 at the Independence Civic Center
Attendees will learn about joint health in the hips and knees, surgical and non-surgical options to relieve joint pain, joint replacement and how to get back to active.
Dr. Ryan will lead a joint replacement seminar on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Independence Civic Center, located at 555 S Main Street
, in Independence.

About Dr. Ryan
Dr. Ryan’s areas of expertise include both primary and revision total hip and knee replacement, unicompartmental knee replacements, hip resurfacing, hip fractures, and minimally invasive solutions to hip and knee replacements.
He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego in animal physiology and neuroscience, and a medical degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. Dr. Ryan completed residency training at the University of California, Davis and fellowship training in adult reconstruction and total joint replacement at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
Dr. Ryan has published numerous research papers and authored several textbook chapters on hip and knee replacement.
