Samaritan Pacific Women’s Health Group
welcomes Ian Ross Donald, MD.
Born in Scotland and raised in Canada, Donald earned a medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. He completed an internship and residency training at Montreal General Hospital, where he also served as the chief obstetrics and gynecology resident. After completing a clinical research fellowship in high-risk obstetrics at the University of Southern California, he cared for patients on Los Angeles’ west side for 19 years, and taught medical students at University of California, Los Angeles, before moving his family to Idaho.
In recent years, Donald and his wife have lived and worked in New Zealand, Hawaii, Northern California and Seaside, Oregon.
“We have lived in large cities and small towns,” Donald said. “The decision to move to Newport tells you what our preference is.”
Donald joined Samaritan because of the sense of community among staff, and the opportunity to connect with a well-respected medical community, he said.
“The practice of medicine has become a team endeavor,” Donald said. “It is critical to be able to work with compatible professionals. I believe that Samaritan has assembled a good team and that we will work well for the benefit and the safety of our patients and community.”
He looks forward to building constructive relationships with his patients.
“Over the years I have learned to listen to patients in order to be able to tailor treatments and recommendations to their real needs,” he said. “I love to share knowledge with patients so they can make truly informed decisions.”
Donald provides a full range of OB/GYN care and is accepting new patients. For more information, call Samaritan Pacific Women’s Health Group at 541-265-3955.
