Support for those who are grieving

Jun 26,2014
Samaritan Evergreen Hospice offers a free, seven-week grief education and support group. The group is open to anyone seeking guidance in their journey through grief.

The evening group will meet Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. beginning on July 10 and continuing through August 21. The afternoon group will meet on Fridays from 1:30 to 3:15 p.m., beginning July 11 and continuing through August 22.

The groups will meet at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House, located at 4600 Evergreen St. SE in Albany, near the Mennonite Village.

Grief education and support groups provide community members the chance to meet with a small group of people who are also learning how to cope after the death of someone they love. The loss does not have to be recent, nor does it need to be associated with hospice care.

Each session includes information on a particular aspect of grief and suggestions for coping with some of the changes many people experience after a death of a loved one, while providing an opportunity to talk about experiences in a confidential, supportive setting.

There is no charge but registration and a brief phone interview with the facilitator is required; contact Virginia Tyler, LPC, at 541-812-4680.
