Aug 15,2012
Freedom from Smoking is a smoking cessation workshop developed by the American Lung Association and is ranked as the most effective smoking cessation program in the country.

This seven-week workshop will be offered at Samaritan Internal Medicine, 3521 NW Samaritan Drive Suite 201, on Tuesday evenings, beginning Sept. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with one additional class during the fourth week on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Led by counselors trained and certified by the American Lung Association, the workshop utilizes carefully developed strategies for quitting, which include preparation, a quit date and maintenance plans. Workshop tools include an American Lung Association workbook, a relaxation CD, and participants can measure the impact of their efforts with the Smokerlyzer® – a carbon monoxide breath testing device.

The workshop fee is $50 and no physician referral is required. Some insurance companies cover the cost of this class. Check with your insurance company for coverage information. Also, if participants don’t achieve success with the first workshop, they are welcome to take the workshop a second time at no charge.
