Free skin cancer screenings offered

Sep 29,2010

Free skin cancer screenings will be offered to the public on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Samaritan Regional Cancer Center, 501 NW Elks Drive, Corvallis.

Screenings will be provided by dermatologists who will look for signs of skin cancer by conducting a visual inspection of your skin. Screenings take approximately 10 minutes, including completing the paperwork and getting your skin checked. Please note that this is a rapid screening and is not to replace a skin exam with your physician.

This event is sponsored by the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Cancer Committee and approved by the American Academy of Dermatology.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. Most skin cancers form in the tissues of the skin, on parts of the body exposed to the sun. Regular examination of the skin increases the chance of finding skin cancer early.

Registration is required. For more information and to register, call the Samaritan Regional Cancer Center at (541) 768-5220.
