Gala raises $125,000 for Samaritan Women’s Imaging Center

Nov 11,2011
The Physicians Gala exceeded its fundraising goal of $100,000, raising approximately $125,000 to assist with the construction of the Samaritan Women’s Imaging Center on the campus of Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Hosted by the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, more than 315 people were in attendance at the event, held Oct. 1 at the CH2M HILL Alumni Center.

Support for the event was generously provided by presenting sponsor Corvallis Radiology, PC. Event sponsors also included Barker-Uerlings Insurance, Sodexo, Greenberry Construction, the Hennessy family, McKesson, Amerinet, Howard S. Wright, Samaritan Surgical Associates, and Samaritan Heart & Vascular Institute.

“Many contributed to the success of this event,” said Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation Director Jeff Larson. “In addition to our many sponsors, we could not have done it without our volunteers and dedicated steering committee.”

The Samaritan Women’s Imaging Center project is slated to begin in May 2012, directly across the street from the hospital in the Neville Building at 3615 NE Samaritan Drive. The project is expected to wrap up in the fall of 2012.

The center will provide the highest quality, comprehensive imaging and follow-up consultation for women in our community. An integrated, collaborative and multidisciplinary screening and consultation program will result in innovative, effective and timely care. Outpatient imaging services will also be located in the same building.

“I am pleased so many people came out and enjoyed the Physicians Gala in support of the women’s imaging center,” said David Faddis, MD, a Samaritan Health Services physician specializing in surgical oncology and breast surgery. “Our hope is that with the Samaritan Women’s Imaging Center, women in our community will soon come to regard their annual screenings as a pleasant experience, resulting in more early detection that will save lives.”

Designed with beauty, convenience and accessibility in mind, the Samaritan Women’s Imaging Center will allow care providers to treat each patient in a personalized, empathetic manner. A focus on education and early detection will result in better patient outcomes.

Screening tools including digital mammography, ultrasound and breast MRI will be available at this one convenient location; and patients will be able to return to this comfortable, familiar center if breast biopsy or physician consultation is necessary. Planned amenities of the center will include a comfortable, soothing waiting room with a water feature and a children’s area, dressing rooms, and a private waiting room.
