Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital (SLCH) has begun a remodel on its critical care unit (CCU). The Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation is raising $550,000 to support this project, to benefit the hospital’s sickest patients.
Roughly 400 people receive care annually through the CCU. The severity and complexity of health conditions among our CCU patients has increased over time, and this remodel will help our staff provide these patients with the best care possible.
When completed early next year, the remodeled unit will feature:
- An ADA-accessible bathroom for patients, equipped with a shower. Right now, the unit does not have its own patient bathroom.
- A new HVAC unit to improve air flow and temperature for patients and staff.
- A ceiling-mounted patient lift, which will benefit patients who can’t move on their own, as well as our staff.
- A medical air compressor and distribution system.
- A new storage area for equipment. Currently, equipment is being stored in a patient room, making that room unavailable to our patients.
- Upgraded flooring and paint throughout the unit.
“The flow of patient care and activity in the unit is going to be greatly improved by this renovation,” said Wendie Wunderwald, Vice President of Patient Care Services for SLCH. “Our staff is very excited about this project."
In addition, the front of the hospital will be remodeled slightly as result of this project.
The hospital foundation is more than halfway toward its $550,000 goal, with 100 percent participation from the foundation’s board of trustees. Employees of the hospital, provider clinics and Samaritan Wiley Creek Community retirement center will have the opportunity to support the project through the annual Samaritan Employee Caring Campaign in October.
