If you’re sick and tired of feeling ‘sick and tired’ due to a chronic condition, learn to manage it now by attending a free Living Well With Chronic Conditions workshop.
Registrations are being taken now for the next six-week workshop, which starts Saturday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Ave. A light meal will be provided.
The highly interactive workshops are sponsored by Samaritan Health Services, Linn, Benton and Lincoln counties.
Developed at Stanford University, Living Well With Chronic Conditions is offered at hundreds of locations throughout the United States. It helps participants with ongoing health conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and depression to:
- Find better ways of dealing with pain and fatigue
- Discover easy exercises to help improve or maintain strength and energy
- Learn the appropriate use of medications
- Improve nutrition
- Talk effectively with family, friends and health professionals
- Understand new treatment choices
- Feel better about life
The class has been recognized with the Society for Public Health Education Award for program excellence. Specially trained volunteer leaders, some who have health conditions themselves, teach the class. Leaders cover a new topic each week and provide opportunities for interaction and group problem solving.
Each participant will also receive the book “Living a Healthy Life With a Chronic Condition.”
Registration is required as class size is limited. To register, please call Carole Kment at (541) 451-6466 or email ckment@samhealth.org
