Elizabeth Monson, ANP-C, an adult nurse practitioner with Samaritan Heart & Vascular Institute in Corvallis, appeared as lead author on an article in the November edition of The Journal for Nurse Practitioners – a medical journal considered by many to be the best nurse practitioner journal in the country.
Monson, who joined Samaritan Heart & Vascular Institute in 2010, completed the article, “An Integrative Medicine Approach to Cardiac Risk Factor Modification.” The article examined integrative medicine research that has demonstrated safety and effectiveness for the treatment of modifiable cardiac risk factors and states.
In addition to traditional Western-based medical therapies, Monson and literature support integrating complementary medical therapies into patients’ treatment plans, including dietary supplements, yoga, reiki, acupuncture, and guided imagery to modify cardiac risk factors.
Monson specializes in cardiology and integrative medicine. She is accepting new patients and can be reached at (541) 768-5205.
