New metabolism test may help determine diet

Many diets claim to promote energy and weight loss, but they only work effectively in the long term if they are compatible with your metabolic type. This explains why one person can lose weight on a particular diet, while another person might gain weight on the exact same diet. Not all foods and supplements are equally good for all people.

Metabolic testing may be the missing link that explains why one person’s food may literally be another person’s poison. All three of Samaritan’s valley hospitals now offer the new KORR ReeVue metabolic testing system, which can determine what your body burns in order to maintain, lose or gain weight. Metabolic testing evaluates how many calories you burn in a resting state. It calculates how many calories you should eat to lose or maintain your weight, and determines if your metabolism is fast or slow. This new service is especially useful for those who need to make diet changes because of a chronic condition such as heart disease or diabetes.
