Lebanon hospital foundation receives Pacific Power grant for diabetic cooking classes

Diabetes educators at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital are adding a cooking component to the hospital’s Diabetes Management classes, thanks in part to a $1,000 grant from the Pacific Power Foundation.

Betty Koehn, Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation director, and Angie Frederic, dietitian with the hospital’s Diabetes Education department, accepted a $1,000 check from Pacific Power’s Doris Johnston last week.

“The foundation is so grateful to Pacific Power Foundation, who has generously supported our local hospital for many years and to Doris Johnston, a wonderful advocate for our hospital and entire community,” Koehn said.

The cooking program will consist of classes in which diabetes patients will learn about meal planning, food types, portion amounts, nutritious and delicious recipe ideas and other factors that will benefit their health condition.

Thanks to the Pacific Power Foundation for making this program possible!
