Free seminar: planning for end-of-life

Apr 30,2013
When it comes to end-of-life planning, the decisions involved can be overwhelming. Join Dr. Jeffrey Lear, of Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, on Wednesday, May 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for a free seminar on how best to plan for end-of-life medical care.

At the seminar, Lear will break down the planning tasks into manageable portions, answering questions such as:

• What is an advance directive — and do I need one?
• How can I control my end-of-life care if I can’t speak for myself?
• What is hospice care, and why would I ever need a hospice house?
• I’m afraid; it’s all so unknown!

Refreshments and useful materials will be provided.

Planning ahead for your medical care is a gift you leave to your survivors, and it allows you to enjoy life now rather than fearing the end of it.

The seminar will be held at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House, located at 4600 Evergreen Place SE in Albany. Pre-registration is required. To register, call 541-768-4887 or visit
