Public invited to remember Corvallis General Hospital

Nov 29,2011
Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center invites the public to an event commemorating Corvallis General Hospital, which opened its doors on Harrison Street in 1922 and later became known as Good Samaritan Hospital.

The event will be held on the 36th anniversary of the hospital’s move to its current location on Samaritan Drive – at 4 p.m., Dec. 7, in conference rooms A & B at Good Sam.

A short program and an opportunity to share memories will begin at 4:15 p.m., followed by light refreshments. Those driving to the event are encouraged to use the free valet parking available at the front entrance to the hospital, at 3600 NW Samaritan Drive.

“As the site on Harrison Street is prepared to serve the community in a new way, we plan to recognize the history and significance of Corvallis General Hospital,” said Good Sam CEO Steve Jasperson. “We want to honor the memories of community members who experienced significant life events within those walls.”

At the event, people will have the opportunity to order a brick from the Corvallis General Hospital/Good Samaritan Hospital building. Bricks will be available in early 2012, and individual bricks may be purchased for $25. Proceeds will be used to create a permanent display at the Harrison Street site, commemorating the hospital.
