Soroptimist International of Albany recently made grants to the Albany and Lebanon hospital foundations to help address health issues for women and their families.
The Albany General Hospital Foundation received $35,600: $25,000 to serve the prescription needs of local women and children receiving care through Albany InReach Services; $3,600 for Mammacare® education, which teaches the proper methods for self-breast exams, through the Samaritan Cancer Resource Center; $5,000 for Samaritan Evergreen Hospice to assist with home-based hospice services for women and $2,000 for bariatric mastectomy inventory at Contours, a service of the cancer resource center.
Both Samaritan Evergreen Hospice and the Samaritan Cancer Resource Center serve women in Albany and Lebanon, as well as Benton County.
The Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation received $10,000, which will benefit infusion patients at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital's Emenhiser Center. Services provided through these funds include prescription assistance, co-pays, transportation assistance, childcare and enhanced treatment processes.
Soroptimist International of Albany is a service club comprised of professional women and men. The group sponsors the popular Walk for the Cause fundraiser each October in Albany with proceeds devoted to local health issues.
