Leadership Albany, Leadership Corvallis, Leadership Lebanon
To assure that SHS employees understand the workings of the communities they serve, and conversely, to help communities understand SHS, Samaritan participates in city-sponsored Leadership programs. Currently operating in Albany, Corvallis and Lebanon, the programs bring together selected individuals (leaders) from key community organizations every month. At each all-day meeting, a representative from one of the organizations shows the others around his or her plant/organization/social service and explains how that entity fits into and works for the community.
Participants in Leadership programs spend the first year simply attending the monthly sessions and learning about the various components of the community. During the second year, each participant takes his or her turn as the host. Graduates have applauded the programs for fostering collegiality, understanding, and cooperation among various community groups.
