Training and certification cost

  • Course fee, payable to Samaritan Health Services:
    • Classroom: $1,000
    • Combination online/classroom option: $1,200
  • Criminal background fee: $70, payable to Samaritan Health Services, non-refundable once processed, results are acceptable for one year.
  • Reading comprehension test fee, payable to a community college. LBCC offers a reading comprehension test for approximately $6. An unofficial college transcript showing passing grades in a college-level course may be acceptable in place of a reading comprehension test. Professional Development will determine if the class taken meets minimum requirements.
  • Drug screen fee, payable to a drug testing facility. Samaritan Occupational Medicine offers this service for $38.
  • LBCC registration fee: $125 lab fee. Additional costs may apply.

After completion of the Samaritan nurse assistant training program, additional costs to become a certified nursing assistant in Oregon will include:

  • $106 for the state exam fee.
  • $20-50 for finger prints.
  • $52 for the national criminal background check.
