 Hospital Foundations

Samaritan Health Services works with local, county, and state agencies to ensure we are prepared to effectively respond before, during, and after a community emergency/disaster. Our primary goal is to obtain a level of preparedness that rapid responding to emergencies minimizes serious illnesses in our community.

Each Samaritan-affiliated hospital is currently working on plans for pandemic flu response, surge capacity, earthquake/tsunami, and other hazards that we may experience in our communities. These plans are developed in coordination with county emergency management and health departments and are dynamic and interactive to meet various levels of response.

Samaritan is dedicated to leading the operational and fiscal challenges of planning and responding to a large community emergency. As a community and state leader, Samaritan continues to invest the time and funding to ensure adequate preparations are in place for each hospital, as well as hosting the six-county Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Hospital Preparedness Region.

To remain consistent with national standards of planning and response, Samaritan uses the Incident Command System (ICS) to train and manage response efforts.  Staff are trained and equipped to implement the ICS system as they switch from day-to-day operations to disaster response operations.
