Equal employment opportunity statement

Samaritan Health Services is committed to providing equal employment opportunity to all employees and applicants. Pursuant to its policy Samaritan Health Services makes decisions involving employees and applicants on the basis of job-related criteria, independent of an individual’s gender, race, color, national origin, citizenship, age, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical or mental disability or any other status protected by law. This includes decisions involving hiring, job placement, transfer, promotion, compensation, benefits, training and hospital-sponsored programs. Its support for equal employment opportunity is prominently posted in the workplace.

Samaritan Health Services is committed to providing a workplace free of sexual harassment and free of harassment based on race, religion, disability, veteran status, sex, age, color, national origin or any other status protected by law. Harassment includes a broad spectrum of verbal, physical and visual conduct that creates an intimidating, offensive or hostile work environment or that interferes with work performance. By way of illustration only, and not limitation, examples of harassing conduct that Samaritan Health Services prohibits by policy may include sexual advances or propositions, sexual abuse, comments about an individual’s body, obscene or suggestive letters or notes, offensive verbal comments or postings on computer screens, emails, cartoons, jokes, threats, coercion, slurs, epithets, and/or menacing behavior, among other things.

Samaritan Health Services disapproves of and will not tolerate discrimination or harassment. It encourages employees to promptly report conduct that they believe to be discriminatory or harassing. Reports will be taken seriously and promptly investigated; retaliation for making a report will not be tolerated. Any employee, supervisor, or manager found to have committed acts of discrimination or harassment will be subject to severe disciplinary measures, which may include discharge on the first offense.

Samaritan Health Services is committed to taking affirmative steps to employ and advance women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans. Its goal is to ensure that recruiting efforts reach and are open to a diverse group of candidates and to ensure that all employees have equal opportunities for advancement. It also will make reasonable accommodations for religious beliefs and practices and for qualified employees and job applicants with known disabilities, unless providing accommodation would result in an undue hardship.

Questions regarding Samaritan Health Services’ equal employment opportunity policies should be directed to the Human Resources Department.
