Internal Medicine
Samaritan Health Services has a strong commitment to training primary care physicians in Internal Medicine. Interns accepted into the three-year Internal Medicine residency will follow the Internal Medicine specialty track. The AOA required curriculum will include participation in each of the services listed below for the minimum time specified. The continuity ambulatory care experience will be satisfied by attending internal medicine clinic one-half day per week during the first year. Rotations are for a one month period of time.
OGME-1
- Adult Psychiatry – 1 month
- Ambulatory GYN – 1 month
- Critical Care – 1 month
- Cardiology – 1 month
- Emergency Medicine – 1 month
- Internal Medicine – 4 months
- Pulmonary – 1 month
- Radiology/Anesthesia (2 weeks each)
- Surgery – 1 month
- Vacation
- Clinic – One half day per week
OGME-2
- Endocrinology – 1 month
- Gastroenterology – 1 month
- Infectious Disease – 1 month
- Integrative Medicine – 1 month
- Internal Medicine – 6 months
- Neurology – 1 month
- Nephrology – 1 month
- Vacation
- Clinic – Two half days a week
OGME-3
- Hematology – 1 month
- Internal Medicine – 6 months
- Oncology – 1 month
- Rheumatology – 1 month
- Substance Abuse – 1 month
- Electives – 2 months
- Vacation
- Clinic – 1 month
The clinical experience will be supplemented by a structured didactic program composed of:
- Morning Report
- Noon Lectures
- Grand Rounds
- Tumor Board
- M & M
- Journal Club
- Board Review
