In 2011, close to 6,000 donors gave more than $5 million to the five SHS hospitals and their affiliated clinics. What kind of an impact did their generosity have? Just ask the dozens of low-income diabetes and cancer patients who have been able to pay their bills thanks to foundation scholarships. Or the dialysis patients in Newport who have a treatment center in their town for the first time. Or the hundreds of kids who have been treated at the InReach Clinic – kids whose families couldn’t otherwise afford to take them to the doctor.
