Albany General Hospital Foundation

Just like the community it serves, Samaritan Albany General Hospital has a deep and rich history. From the very beginning, giving has played a vital role in the hospital’s ability to care for those in our community. In 1906, local citizens donated $7,000 and a great deal of their time to transform the rectory of St. Mary’s catholic church into Albany’s first hospital.

Then, in 1924, four physicians and an attorney joined together, raising funds to purchase a piece of property on Albany’s western edge and build a two-story brick hospital. More than eight decades later, Samaritan Albany General Hospital welcomes patients with a warm, healing environment, state-of-the-art technology, and expert, caring staff.

Generous donations to the Albany General Hospital Foundation make all of this possible. We invite you to look further at how our donors are building the health of our community, and how you can join in the effort.
