The academic year consists of 13 blocks which are each four weeks in length. A sample of the internal medicine curriculum is listed below.

Out rotations: ICU in PGY 1 is completed at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Ore., and endocrine in PGY 3 is completed at the Portland VA and Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Ore.  

The clinical experience will be supplemented by a structured didactic program comprised of daily morning report, daily noon conference, grand rounds, Harrison's Club, and OMT clinics and workshops.

Daily noon lectures

Lectures cover a wide variety of topics and sub specialities aimed at creating a well-rounded learning experience. The noon lecture curriculum series consists of the following areas:

• General Internal Medicine
• Sub-Specialty Medicine
• Outpatient Medicine
• Pharmacy Medicine
• Business, Law and Ethics of Medicine
• Morbidity and Mortality Conferences

Grand rounds

• Occur each Friday with all members of the medical staff

Harrison's Club

• Occurs monthly over dinner hosted by the program director

OMT clinic and workshops

• All internal medicine interns will work a minimum of three shifts in the OMT clinic during the academic year
• Procedure training sessions include: mock codes, mega codes, sonosite and lumbar puncture
