The Larry A. Mullins, DHA, Scholarship was established in 2003 by the board of directors of Samaritan Health Services. It was formed in honor of Mullins, the President/CEO of Samaritan Health Services, upon the completion of his doctoral degree in health care administration (DHA) from the Medical University of South Carolina.
The scholarship fund is housed with the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation
. Mullins chairs the selection committee for the scholarship. At least one scholarship of $1,000 is awarded annually from the fund.
In order to be considered for a Mullins scholarship, a candidate must be currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a health care related field. Mullins scholarships are available to individuals without regard to race, religion, national origin, gender, age, color, disability, or marital status.
Special consideration will be given to applicants who are currently employed in the health care field, members or veterans of the U.S. military and those who are willing to work in Oregon or Arizona. Special consideration will also be given to applicants who are currently attending one of the following institutions: Arizona State University, Glendale Community College, Linn Benton Community College, Medical University of South Carolina, Northern Arizona University, Oregon State University and Western University of Health Sciences – COMP NW.
Application information is available to college financial aid/career planning staff, as well as at the link below. Completed applications are due the last Friday of April of the scholarship year. Scholarship recipient(s) will be announced in late May. Scholarship funds will be mailed in July in the recipient’s name directly to the college/university indicated on the application. No funds will be released directly to the recipient.
