Fourth Annual Act Alive DecathlonJune 28, 2008
The fourth annual Act Alive Decathlon was a great success, raising more than $9,000! That's a record for the event!All proceeds go to the Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation for scholarships for uninsured patients to take diabetes classes at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.
Under a hot sun on June 28, Dr. Tim Hindmarsh completed 10 action sports to raise awareness of type 2 diabetes and its effects on east Linn County. His wife, May Hindmarsh, MD, and three friends joined him for most of the activities. Type 2 diabetes is one of the most serious diseases residents of east Linn County face, and lack of physical exercise is at its root. Exercise is one of the best ways to treat diabetes, and Hindmarsh's goal with Act Alive is to encourage everyone to take charge of their health. The action sports included:
