LCH Foundation to host estate planning seminar

Mid-valley residents are invited to come learn estate-planning tips from an experienced financial planner, courtesy of the Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation. The foundation will host this free seminar on Oct. 16, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., in Conference Room B at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. Bob Hoffman, senior vice president with the accounting firm Thompson & Associates, will discuss ways to reduce taxes, plan appropriately for your family and support community charities. The Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation recently awarded nearly $70,000 in grants for 25 projects throughout Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital (SLCH). In all, the foundation board of trustees approved $69,093 in grants. The foundation established the grants in 2002 to reward SLCH employees for their support of the foundation. Last month at its annual M Club dinner, the Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation celebrated another year of success in its mission of supporting projects and programs at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. More than 100 donors attended the dinner, which is a celebration of all donors who gave $1,000 or more to the hospital in 2007, and/or have included the hospital in their estate plans. “Each one of you, by your generosity and kindness, has changed the course of history at this hospital,” said Bill Rauch, president of the foundation board of trustees, at the dinner. Kristin Herring, a third-year student at OHSU Medical School in Portland and a Girod scholarship recipient, has returned to her hometown of Lebanon as part of her medical training. Herring, who grew up in Lebanon, just began a five-week rotation under Rick Wopat M.D. and Mary Lou Belozer M.D., two family physicians at the Mid-Valley Medical Plaza. Her plan is to return to Lebanon, possibly to practice family medicine, after she graduates and finishes her residency. Read more » Hospital's healing garden featured in prestigious journal
