The Health Education Center
Just as community centers strengthen neighborhoods by providing gathering places, the Health Education Center at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital (SPCH) will strengthen Lincoln County by providing a hub for health-related information, classes and support groups.
Imagine that you or someone you love is diagnosed with a serious illness. Or perhaps you are perfectly healthy and simply looking for information to help you stay that way as you grow older. What do you do? Research, of course. You want to find advice, treatment options, support services and people who understand your situation. In addition to talking to your health care provider, you may go online, to the library, or you might ask someone who has experienced what you’re going through.
The Health Education Center will give the community a safe, central place to do all of this.
A focus on wellness
Located on the campus of SPCH, the Health Education Center will allow us to:
- Offer centralized meeting rooms for the county’s many support groups
- Expand our ability to offer community wellness programs
- Attract large educational conferences
- Offer health-related community organizations meeting space with state-of-the-art technology
- Partner with Oregon Coast Community College to create a professional skills lab
- Free up space inside the hospital for clinical use
- Establish a health resource library
