InterCommunity Health NetworkInterCommunity Health Network serving the people of OregonInterCommunity Health Network (IHN) is a managed care plan under contract with the state of Oregon to administer the Oregon Health Plan in Linn and Benton counties. Founded in 1993 by Albany General, Good Samaritan and Lebanon Community hospitals, IHN serves 16,000 Oregon Health Plan members in Linn and Benton counties. Although IHN’s contract with the state of Oregon is not exclusive, it is currently the only managed care organization (MCO) in Linn and Benton counties that administers the Oregon Health Plan. The Oregon Health Plan provides access to health insurance for Medicaid-eligible low-income residents. The Oregon Health Plan was actually designed by the state legislature to operate similarly to other managed care plans. Most new recipients of Medicaid coverage in Oregon must choose one of the MCOs in their county that has a Medicaid contract. Oregon Health Plan users then coordinate all health care through their primary care physicians. In addition to the 16,000 residents in Linn and Benton counties, as many as 180,000 Oregon residents may qualify for the Medicaid coverage under the Oregon Health Plan. |
