Getting a ReferralYour PCP may send you to a specialist or another facility for special services. These services must be approved by IHN and must be requested by your PCP. If you go to another provider without getting an authorized referral you might have to pay for those services, including Medicare deductibles and coinsurances. Exceptions are listed below. Family planning services and immunizations do not require a referral. For family planning services, you may see your IHN provider, the County Health Department, or any other provider who will take your OMAP Medical Care ID. For childhood immunizations, you may see your PCP or your County Health Department. In addition you do not need a referral for mental health or chemical dependency services. You should not schedule appointments with anyone other than your PCP without first receiving approval. If you have any questions about this, contact your PCP’s office or the IHN Member Services Department at 1-800-757-5114 or TTY 1-800-735-2900. |
