Dr. Leong received a bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and a medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Downers Grove, Ill. He completed an internship and residency in psychiatry at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, and a fellowship in child adolescent psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Leong served eight years in the U.S. Navy before attending medical school and joining the Army to serve in the Medical Corps. He retired after 22 years of service and has served his country since 1980 in various capacities.
Dr. Leong retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, receiving numerous awards and medals over his years of service. During his tenure in the Army, he supervised large mental health departments at Reynolds Army Community Hospital in Fort Sill, Okla., and at the Stuttgart Army Health Clinic in Stuttgart, Germany.
In his free time, Dr. Leong enjoys biking, tennis, photography, travel, singing, guitar, cooking and computers. His wife Anna and their four young children are joining him from Europe.
Dr. Leong specializes in inpatient mental health, but also has extensive experience in outpatient treatment, military medicine, addictions treatment, forensic mental health and child adolescent psychiatry.
