Dr. Palmgren is a board-certified urologist and full Diplomate of the American Board of Urology.
He earned a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a medical degree from the University of South Alabama. He completed residency training at the University of Missouri Hospitals & Clinics, where he also served as chief resident. During his residency, Dr. Palmgren participated in research on prostate cancer, male infertility, stone disease, post surgical bleeding and renal cancer.
Dr. Palmgren has received various academic awards, presented his research at local and national meetings, and published a review on small cell prostate cancer. He has extensive experience in endourological surgical techniques for the treatment of stone disease, minimally invasive surgery of the kidney and urethral reconstruction of stricture disease.
Prior to joining Samaritan, Dr. Palmgren was the head of the urology department at a naval hospital in Bremerton, Wash. He served a combined nine years of active and inactive duty as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy.
He will see patients in both Albany and Lebanon.
