Personal Biography:
Dr. Arrazola received medical education from Navarra University in Pamplona, Spain. While in medical school, he gained additional clinical experience in Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States. He completed a research fellowship in transplantation immunology at the University of Minnesota, followed by residency training in general surgery at the University of Kentucky and a clinical fellowship in multi-organ abdominal transplantation at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Arrazola also completed additional clinical and research fellowships at Columbia/Cornell University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York in liver transplantation/hepatobiliary surgery.
He is a member of multiple surgical societies and he has published and lectured extensively. He has also been very active in developing hepatobiliary surgery programs in Africa where he lectures and teaches local surgeons in complex hepatobiliary surgery. He is originally from San Sebastian (Basque Country) and is fluent in Basque, French, Spanish and English.
