  • Psychiatry
Psychiatry is the treatment and study of mental disorders. Psychiatric assessment typically involves a mental status examination -- the taking of a case history -- and possibly psychological tests. Psychiatric treatment employs a variety of therapeutic modalities including medications, psychotherapy and a wide variety of other treatments.

Resident physicians, known as residents, are individuals who have received a medical degree and practice medicine under the supervision of fully licensed physicians, usually in a hospital or clinic.

Medical residency provides in-depth training within a specific branch of medicine such as family practice, internal medicine, psychiatry, orthopedic surgery, general surgery or other specialties and builds upon the broad range of medical knowledge and basic clinical skills learned in medical school, enabling the physician to get more hands-on medical practice experience.
