Community Events/Screenings
Caring for the community
To help you monitor your heart’s health, the Samaritan Heart & Vascular Institute, in conjunction with local SHS hospitals, hosts free screenings throughout the year. Since 2004, more than 2,000 people have participated in the screenings, which include total cholesterol, HDL/LDL, glucose, full lipids and blood pressure checks.
Upcoming screenings:
Legs for Life
Sept. 5, 19 and 26 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Do your legs hurt consistently
while exercising or walking? If so, Legs for Life® may be able to help you identify the problem and find a
solution. Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) affects an estimated eight to 10 million people in the U.S. The Society of Interventional Radiology has developed
Legs for Life®, a free screening for people who may be at risk for PAD.
In addition, we are providing a free abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)
screening. AAA is a weak area in the main blood vessel that carries blood from
the heart to the rest of the body. As blood flows through the aorta, it bulges
like a balloon and if the balloon grows large enough, there is a risk it will burst.
If you are 55 years or older, these screenings may help you take
the next step in bettering your health.
Pre-registration is required. For more information or to register, please call 768-5090.
