Program OverviewSamaritan Health Services (SHS) offers a comprehensive program of inpatient and outpatient mental health services. The inpatient unit serves patients from all over the state, while the outpatient program serves patients from Benton, Linn and Lincoln counties. Most mental health care is delivered at the Samaritan Wellness Center building on the campus of Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. Outpatient services are offered through SHS mental health clinics in Corvallis, Albany and Newport. Inpatient servicesGood Samaritan established an inpatient program for adult psychiatric patients in October 1992. Now, the program operates in a new, 32-bed free-standing facility and serves private and state-funded patients in a comfortable, community-based setting. A multi-disciplinary team provides services, including intensive individual and group therapy, as well as occupational and recreational therapy. Music and art therapy have been offered through grants from the Oregon Arts Commission and the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation. In addition to providing care to the private sector through contracts with private insurance organizations, Samaritan Mental Health has developed public-private partnerships with regional county mental health programs and with the Medicaid funded MHOs (mental health organizations under the Oregon Health Plan). It has contracts with these organizations for the provision of inpatient adult acute care services. The staff works closely with the patient’s family, primary care physician and community-based resources to provide a smooth transition from inpatient care to a network of outpatient aftercare and services. Outpatient servicesOutpatient mental health services are provided by a highly-skilled team of psychiatrists, psychologists and licensed clinical social workers. A full spectrum of professional services is available in Corvallis. In addition, general adult outpatient services and psychological testing for children and adolescents is available in Albany, and general adult services are available in Newport. To learn more about the physicians, visit Find a Physician on this Web site. Depending on needs, psychiatrists are available to work with children and families as well as with adults.
