Weight Loss Surgery
Weight loss surgery, or bariatric surgery, is performed on the stomach and intestine of patients for the purpose of losing weight. The Samaritan Bariatric Surgery Program performs three types of gastric restrictive procedures: the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, the vertical sleeve gastrectomy, and adjustable gastric band. Weight loss following surgery dramatically improves quality of life, reducing weight-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary disease, pain from arthritis and high cholesterol levels.
