Endoscopy is a process that allows physicians to better examine the body’s passageways, including, but not limited to, the esophagus, stomach and colon. Through a piece of equipment known as an endoscope, the doctor can directly look at specific areas to better evaluate and detect problems.
Samaritan Health Services provides the latest diagnostic and treatment options for all types of gastrointestinal diseases. We offer widely respected physicians, the most advanced technology and remarkable convenience. Our patient-centered philosophy is reflected in every detail from our highly skilled staff to the state-of-the-art Samaritan Endoscopy Center.
- Colonoscopy (examines the colon or the entire large intestine)
- Flexible sigmoidoscopy (examines the rectum and lower colon)
- Endoscopic ultrasound (combines endoscopy and ultrasound to obtain information about the digestive track)
- Upper GI or EGD (examines the esophagus, stomach and upper intestine)
- Motility tests
- 24-hour pH testing
- Other specialized procedures, such as ERCP, MRCT and PEG tube insertions
Most endoscopy procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to sometimes return to work or home within four to five hours. To schedule an appointment, please contact your primary care provider. If you don't have a primary care provider, call our Physician Referral Line at 1-800-863-5241 and a representative will direct you to a physician.
