Community Health Initiatives
Social accountability budget funds local health initiatives
Samaritan Health Services will provide $250,000 in direct and in-kind funding for community health initiatives in Benton and Linn counties during the next 12 months.
The funds come from the health system's Social Accountability Budget, which allocates up to 10 percent of the previous year's net revenue back to the community.
To be eligible for funding, programs must:
- Focus on unmet needs in underserved populations;
- Be collaborative, involving partnerships with other organizations;
- Focus on improving the health status in the community;
- Use quality indicators to measure progress and outcomes, reporting results and sharing them widely to attract more resources;
- Plan for self-sufficiency, where appropriate;
- Operate efficiently, ideally with an administrative overhead of 15 percent or less.
“The Social Accountability Budget is an extension of our health care mission, which calls for us to do what we can to help improve the overall health status of the communities we serve,” President/CEO Larry A. Mullins said.
