Heartspring Wellness CenterProgram Overview
Heartspring Wellness Center is the outpatient clinic of Samaritan Integrative Medicine. The staff at Heartspring use many mind-body medicine approaches, which emphasize the rich and complex interactions between body, mind, spirit and the environment. The focus is on treating the whole person rather than just the disease, to help people integrate their illness into the larger context of their lives. The Division of Integrative Medicine provides classes, workshops, retreats and informational lectures, as well as consultations for healthy environments and healthy communities. We provide inpatient as well as outpatient services and work to promote health for the staff at Samaritan Health Services as a part of our mission. How does mind-body medicine work? The mind-body approaches used by Heartspring Wellness Center have been part of traditional medical practice for decades. The techniques are safe and effective, and like other parts of traditional medicine, the roots go back hundreds and even thousands of years. Mind-body medicine works by recognizing the connections between mind, body, spirit and environment, and how each element profoundly influences the other three. Hundreds of scientific studies have shown that what we believe, think, and feel influences our bodies. Our thoughts and emotions affect the hormones, neurotransmitters and natural body chemicals that impact our immune systems and every part of our body. Heartspring servicesHeartspring Wellness Center services revolve around the central premise that we are more than just our body. We have spiritual, physical, mental and emotional components—all of which contribute to and are facets of our overall well-being. We recognize ourselves as components of a whole that is greater than ourselves and acknowledge the need for balance and harmony in our environment. In an effort to reflect these principles, we offer naturopathic and Oriental medicine options. Many illnesses and disease processes in health care can be attributed to behavior and lifestyle choices. These choices come from within; and behavioral change requires an inward look. This is our specialty. Using mind-body therapy techniques, we facilitate the self-exploration necessary to come to different conclusions—literally. Outcomes are different as choices change.
