Urgent Care

In August 2001, Lebanon Community Hospital opened its Urgent Care Clinic. It's a walk-in health care facility, attached to the hospital, that offers residents of east Linn County another health care option.

Urgent Care:

  • Offers people a place to go if they become ill and cannot visit the offices of their regular primary care providers (PCPs)
  • Provides a lower-cost alternative to Emergency Department care (although true emergencies, such as uncontrolled bleeding or severe chest pain, still will be referred to the Emergency Department.)

Urgent Care treats acute medical conditions - those conditions that have flared up and are hurting, aching, or bothering you right now. It treats conditions that require immediate attention but are not considered to be life threatening or severe enough to be cared for in the Emergency Department.

Urgent Care is not meant to be used for routine medical care that should be scheduled with a PCP.

Some examples of common urgent-care conditions are: sore throat, ear infection/pain, minor cuts/abrasions, minor burns, muscle strains, cold/flu symptoms.

Urgent Care visits usually cost the same as, or just slightly more than, the cost of regular physician office visits. They are considerably less than the cost of Emergency Department visits. Most insurance companies pay for Urgent Care visits, but you must read your insurance plan's benefit packet to be sure.
