Volunteer ServicesOverview of OrganizationsThe LCH Auxiliary was formed even before the hospital's construction was completed in 1952. Its purpose, then and now, is to assist Lebanon Community Hospital in serving the needs of the community. The Auxiliary runs the hospital gift shop and sponsors many educational and fund-raising activities for the hospital. Money earned from the gift shop and other activities goes to purchase equipment, sponsor support programs and pay for scholarships. The Auxiliary consists of a Board of Directors and the general membership. Auxiliary members pay nominal annual dues. For more information about joining the Auxiliary, call (541) 451-7062. Although most people who become part of Volunteer Services also choose to join the Auxiliary, that is not a requirement. Volunteers have job descriptions, are trained in the importance of confidentiality, and receive instruction for their various assignments within the hospital. They may greet and assist patients at the information desk, deliver mail and flowers, assist visitors in finding their way around the hospital, sort and deliver mail, staff the Family Assistance Desk in Same Day Care, install Lifeline units and provide help with clerical tasks. Approximately 100 men and women serve as volunteers at Lebanon Community Hospital and Wiley Creek Community, a retirement facility located in Sweet Home, Oregon The Caring Corner Gift ShopOpened in 1995, the Caring Corner Gift Shop sells cards, fresh flowers, snacks, jewelry, accessories and various other gift items suitable for patients, visitors and staff. The Auxiliary uses profits from gift shop sales to fund various programs, to buy equipment for the hospital, and to fund scholarships. Gift Shop hours are: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. |
