Support Samaritan Emergency Relief
Coronavirus Information
Find out how we keep you safe and healthy when you visit us for care.
Welcome to the Pacific Communities Health District Foundation
The Pacific Communities Health District Foundation is committed to encouraging and supporting Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital and its patients, as well as the health and well-being of those who live and work in the community.
Since our inception in 1983, we have provided funding for the Center for Health Education, medical equipment, wellness programs and services, and assistance for low income patients with health care costs. We cannot do this without the generous contributions from our hospital staff, friends, neighbors and businesses. For this, we are truly grateful!
For more information, please contact Ursula Marinelli, executive director, at umarinelli@samhealth.org.
Clinics Provide Essential Services
“What would we do if we didn’t have the walk-in clinic in Newport?” Hal asked. “It gives us peace of mind knowing it’s here.”
Now retired, Hal and his wife, Karen, live in the Midwest and have a vacation home in South Beach. When they visit, the couple relies on the Samaritan Walk-in Clinic in Newport for care.
Likewise, 77 area employers rely on the Samaritan Occupational Medicine Clinic - Newport to care for their workers.

Community Partners Serve the Vulnerable
Meet community partners who are bringing food to some of our most vulnerable neighbors during the pandemic.
Memory Tree
Like the roots of a tree, the memories of our loved ones run deep and sustain us. Likewise, its branches both protect us from the elements and offer beauty in times of sadness. Both strong and vulnerable, this tree can hold our memories and symbolize new life.
The Memory Tree is located at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in the third-floor Visitor’s Lounge. Both the lounge and the Memory Tree are generously sponsored in memory of Kenneth Stevens, MD. The metal tree was created by Oregon artist Ken Scott.
To engrave a leaf in memory of a loved one, please donate $25 or more per leaf and complete the form. In the comment section, include the date your loved one passed away.
A limited number of leaves are available. Proceeds will support Arts in Health Care funded by the Pacific Communities Health District Foundation.
For more information, contact Ursula Marinelli or call 541-270-6413.

Women’s Giving Circle
Local women are embarking on an exciting program to support the health care needs of area women and children and to celebrate the growing impact of women as philanthropists. Working with the Pacific Communities Health District Foundation, these women are a part of the Women’s Giving Circle, which features two major components:
- Collective philanthropy: Each participant donates an equal amount to a fund, which is distributed to local projects that benefit women and children within the scope of patient care provided by Samaritan Pacific Health Services. Participants develop fund distribution criteria, investigate projects firsthand and award funds personally with help from the foundation.
- Education and celebration events: Based on the needs and interests of participants in the Women’s Giving Circle, the group gathers at least once a year for an educational opportunity regarding health care and philanthropy, to vote on fund distribution to projects and to meet with previous recipients. The event is designed to educate, empower, and inspire.
Please join us!
Women’s Giving Circle participation is open to women and men interested in supporting women’s and children’s health in our community. The annual contribution is $250 and, as allowed by law, is fully tax-deductible as a gift to the Pacific Communities Health District Foundation. To join today, please complete the donation form below and select Women’s Giving Circle from the drop-down menu. For questions, please call 541-574-4912.
