In June, Samaritan Health Services graduated its third class of physician residents, including Joel Breen, DO, psychiatry; Christopher Care, DO, internal medicine; Mandilin Hudson, DO, psychiatry; Robin Page-Echols, DO, family medicine; Tobin Rummel, DO; family medicine; and Kenna Wood, DO, internal medicine.
Four graduating residents - Care, Wood, Page-Echols and Hudson - have accepted positions within Samaritan Health Services. Rummel is joining a private practice in Corvallis, and Breen will provide care in Eugene.
Our medical education program was established to help meet the needs for additional medical providers in the region, and we are so pleased that this fine group plans to remain in the area to practice medicine.” said Nancy Bell, vice president of Academic Affairs.
During their time at Samaritan, residents adhere to curricula developed by Samaritan in accordance with American Osteopathic Association standards. Residents participate in both didactic offerings (class room lectures) as well as a variety of clinical rotations under the supervision of experienced physicians.
These physicians have worked incredibly hard to get to this point in their training, and we couldn’t be more proud of their accomplishments,” said Bell.
In addition to the rigorous training program, residents are able to spend some time within the community by participating in a variety of outreach events, including Tar Wars, which educates children about the dangers of tobacco and smoking, and sports physicals for Pop Warner football players and at local Boys & Girls Clubs.
Currently, Samaritan offers training programs in family medicine, internal medicine, psychiatry, general and orthopedic surgery, and cardiology. This year, 12 interns also completed their training, and 31 new interns began their clinical work with the organization in July.
