Albany hospital to hold diabetes support group on Feb. 17

People with diabetes or pre-diabetes can learn more about managing their condition at a free support group at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.

The hospital’s Diabetes Education team will host the group on Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Elm Professional Building, adjacent to the hospital. Sara Thomas, nutrition services manager from Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, will lead a discussion about nutritional supplements.

Following the discussion, participants will have a chance to ask any questions about their condition.

Future group discussions will include:
  • Tuesday, April 21: Sleep apnea, with Sarah Swarts, MD, Samaritan Internal Medicine
  • Tuesday, June 16: Diabetes and the brain, with Theresa Anderson, diabetes educator from Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center
  • Tuesday, Sept. 15: Cooking demonstration with Jamie Brown, Diabetes Education manager at Samaritan Albany General Hospital
