Grief can be overwhelming — free, local support is available

SHARE
Samaritan Evergreen Hospice is offering free, seven-week Grief Education and Support Groups in Albany and Lebanon from April 30 through June 11.

Day and evening sessions are available. The daytime group will meet Thursdays from 1:30 to 3:15 p.m. at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House in Albany. The evening group will meet Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.

There is no charge but registration and a brief phone interview with the facilitator are required.  Participants are asked to commit to attending all of the sessions. For more information or to register, contact Virginia Tyler, LPC, at 541-812-4680.

Grief Education and Support Groups provide participants the chance to meet with a small group of people who are also learning how to cope after the death of someone they love. The loss does not have to be recent, and the loved one does not have to have died on hospice. Groups can provide support and suggestions for coping with the challenges many people face while grieving.

Each session includes information on a particular aspect of grief and suggestions for coping with some of the changes many people experience after a death of a loved one. The groups also provide an opportunity to talk about experiences in a confidential, supportive setting, and to hear from other people about how they are adjusting.
